Skyfall star Ben Wishaw is set to join Chris Hemsworth and Anne Hathaway in Steve Spielberg's sci-fi epic Robopocalypse.
The British actor, who plays Q in the new Bond, has been cast as a hacker called Lurker in the thriller set in the near-future about a sentient computer killer.
Wishaw can also be seen in the upcoming Cloud Atlas after making his big screen breakthrough in the 2001 off-kilter thriller Perfume: The Story of a Murderer.
Hemsworth is in negotiations for an unnammed role and Hathaway is being sought by the producers of the sci-fi blockbuster.
In the novel, an increasingly robot-reliant society faces extinction after a computer scientist accidentally unleashes a sentient artificial intelligence called Archos.
After infecting networked electronic devices (cars, airplanes, elevators, robots) with a "precursor virus", Archos begins planning a systematic attack on the human race.
The only things that can stop it are small bands of survivors who find ways to dodge the human purge and survive without modern technology.
The book has been adapted for the screen by Drew Godard and it will be produced by Tom Rothman, who recently resigned after 18 years at Fox, the last twelve as chairman and CEO.
The film will begin principal photography in early 2013 and will be released on April 25, 2014 day and date worldwide.
