Both have their feelers out for the role.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron may be the most anticipated film on Marvel’s slate, and Guardians of the Galaxy certainly the most bonkers, but it may be that Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man has the potential to be studio’s most fun movie to date.
With a script written by Wright and Attack the Block’s Joe Cornish, Ant-Man follows the adventures of Dr. Henry Pym, a scientist who develops a serum that allows him to change his size at will. There has been some enjoyably wild and inaccurate speculation has to who will play Ant-Man, with Simon Pegg hotly tipped for obvious reasons. However, according to Variety, the role is likely to be taken by one of two candidates.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd are the potential Pyms, with Edgar Wright and Marvel executives reported to be meeting both again for a last time in order to choose.
Wright is reported to want an ‘everyman’ as his star, eschewing a ripped, square-jawed slab of heroic for his Ant-Man. Though the idea that either Rudd or Gordon-Levitt are ‘ordinary looking’ depresses us more than you can imagine.
We are even more hideous to look at than we thought.
Ant-Man is scheduled for release in July 2015.
