Wahlberg up for Transformers 4

9 November 2012

Mark Wahlberg has been confirmed as Shia LeBeouf's replacement in Michael Bay's battling robots franchise Transformers.

The actor, who was Oscar nominated for The Departed and The Fighter,  will appear in the forthcoming Transformers 4 after working with Bay alongside Dwayne Johnson in the action comedy Pain And Gain.

Transformers-4-Logo-DI“Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on Pain and Gain and I’m so fired up to be back working with him," said Bay.

"An actor of his calibre is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy."

LeBeouf was apparently ready to appear in the fourth movie but allegedly demanded a $3m rise from the $15m pay cheque he landed for Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Transformers 4 - which is due to begin filming in spring next year - will be expected to repeat the box office success of a franchise which has earned more than $2.6bn worldwide.
