A likeable remake of the classic 1948 Preston Sturges comedy, with Dudley Moore inheriting the role played by Rex Harrison in the original. Like Harrison before him, Moore ably captures the main character's dual personality: a world-famous conductor who's both obnoxiously arrogant and insecure enough to doubt his beautiful wife's fidelity. As the wife in question, Nastassja Kinski pouts prettily but the laughs belong to Moore (who hatches an elaborate murder plot to do away with his wife and her mysterious lover) and a gallery of comic turns in support: Albert Brooks as Moore's manager, Richard Libertini as the devoted valet and Richard B Shull as the excessively eager detective who sets in motion the chaos that ensues. Directed with brio by Howard Zieff and co-written by Barry Levinson.
