The long-awaited sequel looks to be happening.
It has been over 25 years since the release of Tim Burton’s manic Oscar-winning comedy classic Beetlejuice. A sequel has been mooted on numerous occasions, but finally, after a quarter of a century, it has been confirmed that Tim Burton is in talks with Warner Brothers to helm a second installment.
Michael Keaton is expected to return to the role of the titular ghost ‘bio-exorcist’ that made him a star. It is reportedly one of his personal favourites and speaking in 2010 on a possible return as Beetlejuice, Keaton confirmed, “Oh, I’d do that in a heartbeat… Absolutely. That’s the one thing I’d love to do again.”
The new script for Beetlejuice 2, a stumbling block in the past, has been delivered by Dark Shadows and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter scribe Seth Grahame-Smith though with contracts still to be signed by Burton, a shoot date has yet to be set.
