The Avengers and other trailers air at the Superbowl

Looks like the New York Giants aren't the heroes of the Big Apple.

Now that the Superbowl players are resting their weary heads and limbs after yesterday's game, we can concentrate on what some of us really care about - the half-time trailers!

Superbowl fans were treated to an extended Avengers trailer, which you can see above, as well as new trailers for John Carter, Battleship and Dr Seuss's The Lorax.

In The Avengers, due to be released in UK cinemas on 27 April, Thor villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston) assembles an army against Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) on the big screen for the first time.

All lead, of Samuel L Jackson rounds out the cast as SHIELD agent Nick Fury.

The new trailer is suitably action-packed, but features some mouthwatering little conversation snippets too.

“I have an army,” breathes Loki, menacingly. “We have a Hulk,” quips Tony Stark.

We like.

MORE SUPERBOWL TRAILERS

john-carter-06Oh, and before we forget. Here are some of the other trailers that aired during the Superbowl.

Scroll down for the extended John Carter, Battleship and The Lorax trailers.

Taylor Kitsch takes on the title role, playing a Civil War veteran who finds himself transported to Mars, while
Willem Dafoe's Tars Tarkas befriends him.

The first live-action project for WALL-E director and Pixar stalwart Andrew Stanton, this looks set to be a more unusual fanasy treat with some spectacular special effects.

John Carter comes to UK cinemas on 9 March.

It's the movie of the game. It stars Rihanna. And Taylor Kitch, Hollywood's Next Big Thing (see the John Carter Trailer above).

And it actually looks quite good.

Battleship comes to UK cinemas on 11 April.

From the makers of Despicable Me comes this kooky little Dr Seuss tale, starring the voice of Zac Efron.

The Lorax is scheduled for UK release on 27 July.
