Sylvia Kristel, star of the iconic Emmanuelle series of soft-core 70s films, has died aged 60.
The 1974 film, made for around $500,000, went on to make $100 million worldwide and turned the Dutch-born 22 year old into an international sex symbol and 70s icon.
The troubled young actress made several sequels, but issues with management, alcohol and drugs led to financial problems, and she was declared bankrupt in the late 1980s.
A heavy smoker her whole life, she had been struggling with health problems for several years, suffering a stroke last June.
