Here be dragons, all right.
Well, there's lots of snow but this confirms it. Christmas is now officially relegated to the second most anticipated event of December with the release of the new trailer for the second part of Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy, The Desolation of Smaug.
Hopes were always high for the return of the Middle Earth massive, and the trailer duly serves up a jamboree of Tolkienesque titillation. Amongst the treats on show Bilbo (Martin Freeman) finds the ring and runs into the ultimate black widow, Gandalf (Ian McKellen) spouts wise, and the dwarves continue to toss themselves around with customary abandon.
Meanwhile, Orlando Bloom's Legolas doesn't let his absence from the book get in the way of a few heroics, while Lost star Evangeline Lilly adds more elfin mischief as she-warrior Tauriel.
And, oh yes, Smaug certainly makes his presence known through the ominous tones of Benedict Cumberbatch. and a little flame-throwing...
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens on December 13. Til then, watch and enjoy.
