Fat Amy and co are back.
Musical comedy Pitch Perfect is to get a sequel, and it will be directed by Elizabeth Banks, in her directorial debut.
Banks co-produced the first film and was instrumental in seeing the project come to fruition, obtaining the rights to Mickey Rapkin’s non-fiction book about a capella singing groups. She also played a small supporting role.
Pitch Perfect was a sleeper hit of 2012, earning $113m at the worldwide box office on a budget of $17m - making it the second biggest musical comedy of all time, behind School of Rock.
The soundtrack, which included Anna Kendrick’s ‘Cups’, sold over a million copies and is the best-selling soundtrack album in digital history.
No cast are confirmed but ‘insiders’ (them again!) suggest that Kendrick and Rebel Wilson are expected to return.
