Thomas Kretschmann set to play Nazi baddie.
Latest casting news from the Avengers sequel, the film we're officially calling The Biggest Hit Of 2015 Until Star Wars Is Released: a new villain has been cast in the shape of Thomas Kretschmann.
Kretschmann - best known for his role as Van Helsing on Sky Living's Dracula - has been cast as Nazi antagonist Baron Wolfgang von Strucker. Strucker is a former leader of Hydra, the Nazi splinter group which fought Captain America.
It's therefore reasonable to assume that Strucker will primarily do battle with Cap, rather than the entire Avenging team.
The chief villain for the film is Ultron, the "living automaton", who is to be played by James Spader - also seen on Sky Living's The Blacklist. (Will Naomi Campbell from Sky Living's The Face also be cast as a villain?)
There's also the slight possibility of Thanos making an appearance, seeing as his face popped up in a post-credits tease after the first film - though writer-director Joss Whedon has attempted to play down the prospect.
Avengers: Age of Ultron will be released on May 1st, 2015
