A new trailer is available for Promised Land, the oil-drilling drama that re-teams Matt Damon with his Good Will Hunting director, Gus Van Sant.
Damon co-wrote the movie with fellow lead, John Krasinski, centring the story on a small rural town that has to deal with the subject of 'fracking', which is when energy companies drill deep into the ground to release previously-untouchable natural gasses.
Damon plays Steve Butler, who heads into such small towns with his partner Sue (Frances McDormand) to convince the locals to sign up to the process. The promise of wealth appeals to the local farmers, until a teacher and farmer team (Hal Holbrook and Krasinski) begin spreading word of the dangers of such techniques
It's classic big business vs the little man stuff (think Erin Brokovich), but life is further complicated for Butler when he falls for Rosemarie DeWitt's local lady, but finds himself going up against John Krasinksi's character for her affections.
