Stan Lee’s happy new year.
A brand new teaser for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was debuted on New Year’s Eve at Times Square, the centrepiece of New York’s annual New Year’s celebrations.
A crowd of around a million, gathered at the famous New York location, watched the clip on Sony’s huge video billboard.
The clip features some markedly appropriate footage, given the location: it shows Electro (Jamie Foxx) disrupting NYE festivities in Times Square with his electricity powers.
Then, New York’s favourite superhero swings in to save the day, deploying his trademark wit to foil Electro - or, as he calls him, ‘Sparkles’ - and rescue one of New York’s finest from a car.
Spider-Man creator and Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee excitedly introduces the clip.
The film, a sequel to the 2012 reboot The Amazing Spider-Man, will again feature Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, plus Foxx, Paul Giamatti and Dane DeHann.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be released in the UK on 18th April, 2014.
