New Avengers Clip, Bond Girl & Die Hard Villains

5 April 2012 by Richard Phippen

There's a brand new clip from AVENGERS ASSEMBLE, the first trailer for Nick Love's adaptation of THE SWEENEY, villains cast for DIE HARD 5, and the latest Bond girl has been announced.

The Black Widow is being interrogated in the new clip for The Avengers smackdown. At least, that's what you're supposed to think…

Nick Love was the obvious choice to direct a big screen version of The Sweeney, and the first trailer for the British action/ thriller is exactly what one might expect from the director of The Football Factory and, ahem, Outlaw.

Ray Winstone is Reagan (the role that once belonged to John Thaw) while Ben Drew takes on Dennis Waterman's part as Carter.

Filming has already commenced on the sets of the latest James Bond movie, Skyfall, but given the size of the production, it's pretty normal for casting to continue well into the shoot.

tonia-sotiropoulouThe latest, lucky actress to win a part is Tonia Sotiropoulou, who will play a Bond girl, although her minimal screentime implies she might go the way of most women who sleep with 007…

The actress announced the news on her own Facebook page,
"Dear friends I officially announce I got a part in J. Bond new film!!! Turkey here I come! Thank u all for you love and support! This is officially the happiest day of my life bitches!!!!”

We're pretty sure the shoot is taking place in Turkey, as opposed to Tonia having preconception that director Sam Mendes making Die Another Day 2.

The actress had auditioned for the role as lead Bond girl in the picture, but was called in to audition for the smaller Bond girl part when the main role went to Berenice Marlohe.

Sotiropoulou has appeared in a number of Greek TV shows, and will appear in a forthcoming horror call Berberian Sound Studio, with Toby Jones.

A Good Day To Die Hard has a villain. In fact, the Die Hard sequel has two new villains - Sebastien Koch and Yulia Snigir have signed on to defeat John McClane in the latest bout of terrorist atrocities that must be stopped by New York's finest.

We don't know yet which, if either, is the super villain following in the footsteps of Hans Gruber, Col. Stuart, Simon Gruber and Thomas Gabriel.

Koch is best known to English-speaking audiences for his part in The Lives Of Others, while Snigir, who has appeared in numerous Russian releases, is yet to make her first English-language movie.

The plot of the movie finds John McClane partnering up with his son, Jack, this time to foil a plot in Moscow that threatens the entire world.

TAYLOR LAUTNERGrown Ups, the 2011 comedy starring some of Hollywood's most irritating comedians (Sandler and Schneider) is getting a sequel, and now it's also getting a Twilight star in the cast - Taylor Lautner has signed on for what may well be a cameo role, with the Hollywood Reporter claiming Lautner will face off squarely against Sandler's character.

Grown Ups suffered a critical mauling on release, but a box office take that reached $270m made it an obvious sequel choice for the studio. Chris Rock, David Spade, Kevin James, Maya Rudolph and Salma Hayek are all expected to return (mostly because they probably don't have a lot else to do).

Avatar---Special-EditionProducer Jon Landau has told Empire Online that he and James Cameron are unlikely to release an Avatar sequel by the original target date of 2014.

The producer was talking about the Titanic 3D release when he was quizzed about the sequel to the biggest movie ever made.

"We're not naming dates, but I think 2014 will be a tough date for us to make. It's about getting it right," said Landau.

"Movies make release dates; release dates don't make movies… We've started already. WETA are already working and we have our core team, Richie Baneham (animation supervisor), Nolan Murtha (Digital Effects Supervisor), working with us. And we're working on underwater performance-capture."

Cameron has already hinted that some of the movie will take place underwater, and Landau agreed getting wet is high on the agenda.

"It's going to be like the Floating Mountains in the first movie," he said. "It's not going to be all underwater; it's going to be a place we go to, leave and come back to… You can assume that (there'll be some serious underwater hardware)."
