Fifty Shades of Delay.
The troubled adaptation of saucy megaselling erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey has been on the receiving end of more heavy bruising.
First, there was the fan uproar over the casting of Charlie Hunnam in the role of billionaire bad-boy Christian Grey, with petitions calling for the role to be re-cast.
Then, Hunnam left the role, initially citing the amusingly ambiguous “scheduling commitments”.
Later it emerged that there was more to Hunnam’s surprise exit than just poor diary management. Some reports suggested the Pacific Rim actor was “uncomfortable” about the intense scrutiny from fans of the multi-million dollar franchise - and a relatively paltry payday.
Now, it seems the hoo-ha over recasting their lead - with Jamie Dornan stepping into Christian Grey's leather chaps - has meant production has been delayed by a month.
Shooting was due to commence on November 5th; this has now been whipped and slapped into submission back to December 2nd.
At the moment, the film is still due to be released on August 1st, 2014, although if post-production overruns this date may be beaten firmly with a paddle.
We will continue to cover all news on the production as long as there are vaguely fruity puns to be made.
