With shooting having just commenced on James Wan’s Fast & Furious 7, news has emerged that Lucas Black, star of the unloved third installment Tokyo Drift, is returning to the franchise.
Black, who will reprise his role as Sean Boswell, has signed up for the next three movies in the film series that has become a juggernaut that cannot be stopped. Nine films is a long time for anyone to be this furious but it appears audiences love the bonkers heist action madness the films have embraced.
Remarkably, Fast & Furious 6 gave Universal their biggest ever worldwide opening and is their 3rd highest grossing film of the year behind Iron Man 3 and Despicable Me 2, netting $789m.
Just when you think the films can’t possibly get any faster, they get quicker, bigger and more profitable. Scientists are increasingly concerned about the health effects of so much undiluted testosterone. Some female audience members are growing full beards in the space of only two hours. Something has to give.
Fast & Furious 7 is expected in July 2014.
