Just when we thought Tom Cruise's credibility resurgence was gathering steam, worrying news has come through - Cruise and Paramount are making an entire movie based on his obese, ranty, booty shaking character Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder.
Rumours had been swirling for a while, but Cruise's loose tongue on the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards, followed by a show-stopping performance with Jennifer Lopez in his Grossman fat suit, all but confirmed it.
MTV Films, along with producers Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld have now made it official, with a 'hilarious' press release that treats Grossman and his life story as very much a real person.
“Les Grossman's life story is an inspiring tale of the classic human struggle to achieve greatness against all odds. He has assured me he plans to, quote, ‘F**king kill the sh**t out of this movie and make Citizen f**king Kane look like a piece of crap home movie by the time we are done.’ I am honoured to be working with him,” said Stiller in the statement.
There's no denying that Cruise's cameo in the brilliant comedy ensemble was entertaining, but we're not yet convinced that an entire 90 minute film based around the character would be quite as fun.
What do you think? Would you have preferred to see another character break out (Kirk Lazarus?), or are you excited to see Cruise back again in comedy form? Let us know on our Facebook page and Twitter stream.
