Oscar-winning actress Melissa Leo is joining Hugh Jackman for the kidnap thriller Prisoners.
Leo, who picked up an Academy Award for The Fighter, will join the production early next year in an as yet undisclosed role.
Directed by Canadian Denis Villeneuve (Incendies), the story follows Hugh Jackman's carpenter, who has to take the law into his own hands after his young daughter and best friend are kidnapped.
With the police drawing a blank, he opts for justice vigilante style...but a big city detective working on the case doesn't share his gung-ho methods.
The script was written by Aaron Guzikowki, who penned the Mark Wahlberg actioner Contraband and has been in the works for a couple years.
Jackman is currently filming Wolverine in Australia while Leo is working on both Lee Daniel’s The Butler (in which she plays Mamie Eisenhower) and Olympus Has Fallen (in which she’ll play the United States Secretary of Defense).
She will next be seen in Robert Zemeckis’ Flight, which is due out on November 2.
