As his new movie Crazy Heart hits cinemas, Jeff Bridges kicks back to introduce three of his favourite flicks on Sky Movies Indie / HD this weekend.
The story of a fading country-and-western star looking to mend his boozy ways, Crazy Heart has already earned Bridges a Golden Globe for Best Actor and many expect his first - long overdue - Oscar to follow.
With a couple of weeks to go before he finds out, Jeff has picked a trio of Indie treasures to make the time fly by.
On Sunday 21st February, he's chosen a duet with wildly different tones.
Once is the gentle story of a poor Irish busker who finds a musical soulmate in a Czech flower-seller on the streets of Dublin. Starring real life musicians and partners Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, the film is an Oscar-winner itself, having picked up the gong for Best Original Song last year.
That's followed by the terrific black comedy In Bruges, in which disgraced hitmen Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell try to lie low in Belgium after botching a job.
It feels a lot like a Coen Brothers movie, which leads us nicely into Bridges' first choice: The Big Lebowski. Though the movie is full of surprises, it's no surprise that Jeff has a soft-spot for it as it gave him his most memorable role. He plays 'The Dude', a bemused stoner who finds himself mired in a ransom plot involving hired killers, tenpin-champion sex offenders and ferrets...
See what the dude has to say about all three great flicks as he presents the Jeff Bridges Takeover Weekend on Sky Movies Indie/HD.
