Tom for Freddie?

The King's Speech and Les Miserables director Tom Hooper is being linked to the upcoming Freddie Mercury biopic starring Sacha Baron Cohen.

Deadline reports that the Oscar-winning British director is circling the story of the flamboyant Queen frontman, which was rumoured to have been directed by Stephen Frears.

Cohen starred (and sang live) as the villainous innkeeper  Monsieur Thénardier in Hooper's critically acclaimed adaptation of the musical Les Miserables.

The script, by Peter Morgan (The Queen. Frost/Nixon), starts with Queen’s formation in the early 1970s and ends around their peerless 1985 Live Aid set.
