It’s not the years, it’s the mileage.
Harrison Ford has a reputation of being something of a monosyllabic curmudgeon on the interview circuit. One of cinema’s biggest, most iconic stars doesn’t usually like doing publicity, but during this latest tour for Ender’s Game, the 71 year old has obviously been taking his Sanatogen Tonic.
Earlier this week, Ford was candid about talks he had been having with Ridley Scott about the (ominous) possibility of a Blade Runner sequel. If that wasn’t enough, he has now told Graham Norton that he’d do an Indiana Jones 5, “In a New York minute”
"I don’t think there is any barrier to Indiana Jones being an old fart...I’m old enough that we don’t need Connery anymore. I’m old enough to play my own father!"
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull made $787m worldwide but was met with…er…less critical enthusiasm than the previous three. ‘Marion, don’t look at it. Shut your eyes, don’t look at it, no matter what happens!’ might be an apposite critical review of Crystal Skull in Indy’s own words.
Ford was obviously being flippant but after threatening us with that Blade Runner sequel, we beg him to be more circumspect. Haven’t film fans suffered enough recently?
