Could we see a standalone movie?
Late last year, it was revealed that Gal Gadot would play DC superhero Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman vs Superman movie - joining Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill as Capes and Supes, respectively.
Now, in an interview with an Israeli talk show, Gadot has let slip that her contract extends to three films in the DC Comics cinematic universe.
Multi-picture deals are a common contractual element for big-budget franchises - Mark Ruffalo has reportedly signed a six-movie deal as Bruce Banner/Hulk for Marvel.
Speculation is already rife that Gadot’s three films could reasonably be expected to be a Justice League movie and a standalone movie with the iconic female superhero. But nothing is confirmed yet.
DC and partner studio Warner Bros have long pined for a Justice League movie, especially in the wake of Marvel’s billion-dollar Avengers success.
But the project has hit a number of stumbling blocks, with many directors passing through DC’s doors.
In any case, we’ll see Gadot’s Wonder Woman for the first time when Batman vs Superman is released in May 2016.
