And it's first class.
X-Men: Days of Future Past has debuted its first full trailer - and trust us, it’s more epic than a Patrick Stewart quadruple-take.
The sequel to 2011’s X-Men: First Class sees director Bryan Singer return to the franchise he kickstarted, and with him, a whole host of X-Men veterans, including Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier.
The trailer sees the elderly Professor confront his younger self (played by a scraggly-haired James McAvoy), amid glimpses of other returning stars, including Halle Berry, Ellen Page, and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
The official synopsis reads thusly:
“The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in "X-Men: Days of Future Past." The beloved characters from the original "X-Men" film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from "X-Men: First Class," in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.”
Consider our collective appetites well and truly whetted.
X-Men: Days of Future Past will be released in UK cinemas on May 22nd, 2014.
