He just wants to live in peace - for a bit anyway.
Few movie genres are as satisfying or as pure as Stathamism*. And with Homefront, it looks like we are about to be served a giant dollop of Stathamism with a side order of bone breakage.
Scripted by Sylvester Stallone and co-starring James Franco and Kate Bosworth, the synopsis for Homefront reads thus:
A widowed ex-DEA agent retires to a small town for the sake of his 10-year-old daughter. The only problem is he picked the wrong town.
It’s a brief synopsis but that’s because Stathamist plots tend to be incidental. He moves to a new town for a quiet life, there is a drug kingpin resident, there is a conflagration, and lots of people get hurt. Splendid.
The trailer for Homefront features the welcome and expected- explosions, one-liners, a kidnapped daughter, punching of baddies etc. However, it also features
Statham riding a horse, and then killing a man with a petrol pump. It looks so delicious, we might skip breakfast.
Homefront is released on 29th November.
