Now it’s (ultr-)ON.
As you read this, Iron Man may well be suiting up and wise-crackin’ with Bruce Banner while Thor and Captain America looks on - because the hugely anticipated Avengers sequel has begun filming.
Avengers: Age of Ultron, as it is known, began shooting in Johannesburg , South Africa, where production will remain for the next fortnight. Local news outlets reported that roads would be closed for filming for several days.
Johannesburg Mayor Parks Tausaid has said in a statement: "We are excited to host Marvel... It strengthens Johannesburg's position as a worldwide film production centre with first class facilities and production support. It also has a very positive impact for the region and is a great opportunity for the city to be showcased to a worldwide audience."
After time in South Africa, the blockbuster shoot will move on to northern Italy and South Korea, with greenscreen work in Shepperton Studios, near London, and a short stint in the US.
James Spader, Paul Bettany, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen will join the returning cast of Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Joss Whedon is again writing and directing, for a May 1st, 2015 release date.
