Bobby and Peter Farrelly have revealed they ARE still working on a sequel to 1994's Dumb & Dumber.
The pair revelaed the news on Twitter, saying "You might also be interested to know we are almost done with the Dumb and Dumber To script. I think you are going to like it."
Jim Carrey had agreed to return to one of his most popular roles, as Lloyd Christmas, alongside Jeff Daniels, who seemed keen to once again play Harry Dunne. But in the summer Carrey had begun to distance himself from the project, blaming the studio's lack of enthusiasm in the project.
"I don't think there's a Dumb and Dumber 2 if Jim Carrey doesn't do it," Jeff Daniels explained. "Right now, Jim doesn't want to do it, so it doesn't look like it's happening. I'm disappointed we're not doing it, but I think the guy that's really the most disappointed in it is Jim, because he really wanted to do it... As we stand here today, it's not happening."
But if the Farrelly's are pressing ahead, it seems Carrey might well have had a change of heart. The directors had previously stated that they wouldn't be interested in doing a sequel if both Daniels and Carrey didn't return.
