A shortlist of four hip young actors have been lined up for the role of Doctor Doom in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, it has been reported.
According to The Wrap, Sam Riley, Eddie Redmayne, Toby Kebbell and Domhnall Gleeson are on director Josh Trank's final wish list for the classic Marvel villain.
Last month, the four members of the new Fantastic Four were revealed. Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell will play the ragtag superhero ensemble.
All of the actors on the shortlist are thirty-something rising stars with backgrounds largely in low profile indies. And all - except Gleeson, who is Irish - are from the UK.
The original 2005 Fantastic Four film, and its 2007 sequel, Rise of the Silver Surfer, starred Julian McMahon as the caped baddie.
There were rumours that Trank might cast a woman in the role. But that now looks unlikely.
The new Fantastic Four film will be released in June 2015.
