Former Dr Who Christopher Eccleston is set to play the villain in the up-coming comic book sequel, Thor: The Dark World.
Eccleston is slated to play Malekith The Accursed, a moody sort who has the ability to teleport, and who leads the dark elves in the world of Svartalfheim (we're pretty sure you know what we're talking about, right?).
The role was previously linked with Casino Royale villain Mads Mikkelsen, but he dropped out due to his commitments on the TV show prequel to The Silence of the Lambs, in which he plays the titular Hannibal.
Eccleston, who made a name for himself on the hit 90s TV procedural drama Cracker, is no stranger to evil roles, having appeared as the bad guy in the dreadful GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra, and the even more abysmal The Seeker: The Dark is Rising.
Thor: The Dark World is being directed by Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor and features most of the original's cast, including Chris Hemsworth as the hammer god, Anthony Hopkins as his father and Natalie Portman as love interest Jane.
Idris Elba and Ray Stevenson are also expected to return as Heimdall and Volstagg.
