"If she doesn't scare you, no evil thing will."
The writer behind The Devil Wears Prada has been hired to pen a script for a live action movie based on 101 Dalmatians villainess, Cruella De Vil.
It's the latest in a line of live-action adaptations for previously animated works, with Mirror, Mirror and Snow White and the Huntsman competing in 2011, Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella due out in 2014, and the Angelina Jolie-starring Maleficent, based on the witch of Snow White fame, due around the same time.
De Vil first appeared in Dodie Smith's 1956 novel, which Disney transformed into an animated classic in 1961.
Like Maleficent, the Cruella movie will effectively be the classic story from whence she came, but told from the villain's perspective, which gives Disney a plethora of options should the retelling-with-a-spin find traction with audiences.
Expect to see Cruella terrorise cinemas in 2015.
