New screenwriter hired.
A sequel to 2012 sci-fi Chronicle is still on the table, and a new writer has been hired to write the screenplay.
Jack Stanley has been brought on board by 20th Century Fox to pen a new script. Max Landis had submitted a script but reports suggested the studio preferred to go in a different direction.
The project doesn’t currently have a director attached - original director Josh Trank is currently hard at work in pre-production on Fox’s Fantastic Four reboot.
The original Chronicle made $120m at the box office, on a measly budget of just $12m.
