Captain America & Thor getting more sequels

Set phasers to Phase 3.

Though it will come as little surprise to anyone, news comes from Marvel Studios that both Captain America and Thor will be getting third films in their respective series.

A team of writers has been assembled to write the script for Thor 3, following the success of last year's Thor: The Dark World, which cashed an impressive $632m at the worldwide box office.

Perhaps more impressive is Captain America getting a threequel - even before the release of Captain America 2, due out later this year.

That green light is seen as a vote of confidence from Marvel in directing brothers Joe and Anthony Russo. The Russos are set to return to the series after taking the helms from original director Joe Johnston. Early studio reaction with Captain America: The Winter Soldier has reportedly been extremely positive.

Both sequels were fairly well expected as part of Marvel's grand master plan - forming the ‘Phase 3’ era of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Marvel boss Kevin Feige has dubbed it.

In the meantime, back here in Phase 2, we have Captain America: The Winter Soldier to look forward to - due out in UK cinemas on April 4th, 2014.
