Matthew Vaughn withdraws from directing X-Men: Days Of Future Past
In a most unexpected move, Matthew Vaughn has opted to leave directing duties for the sequel to his well received prequel, X-Men: First Class. No reason has been given for the move but it mirrors his decision not to direct the follow up to his acclaimed comic book adaptation of Kick Ass.
Vaughn will remain as a producer on both projects but the vacancy on X-Men may well be filled by Bryan Singer. Singer has been as a producer on both X-Men prequels and would be the obvious (and welcome) choice to return to a universe that he brought to the big screen with such panache in 2000.
