You’re a nobody until you’ve been in a superhero film.
It’s like hearing about what promises to be a great party but worrying you won’t be invited.
Superhero films are everywhere - some have been stunning, some stunningly awful, but if you are a Hollywood A-Lister, you (and your agent) probably want a piece of that action.
It’s about profile and it’s about money. Oh, and er…’love for the script’ of course…
Yesterday, it was reported that Elizabeth Olsen was in the final stages of negotiating her involvement in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron as Scarlet Witch, while today it is being claimed that Bradley Cooper is finalising terms to be the voice of Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy.
He’s probably less likely to get an Oscar nomination for this than for Silver Linings Playbook.
Vin Diesel will voice Rocket Raccoon’s arboreal amigo Groot, but a film that features a talking tree and a machine gun wielding raccoon makes Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel’s riskiest, and most bonkers film to date.
We can’t wait to see what director James Gunn has wrangled from such barking source material.
Guardians of the Galaxy is released 1st August 2014.
