Boyle in Olympics row, Jayne Mansfield's Car revs up and Pepper Pots heads to the kitchen
BOYLE TAKES REFUGE IN OLYMPICS ROW
Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle - the mastermind behind the London Olympics opening ceremony - is reported to have had his security beefed up following clashes with the games broadcaster.
Boyle - who won an Oscar for Slumdog Millionaire - has had to add another ring of security around his trailer after friction with the Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), The Guardian reported.
Rehearsals for next Friday's £27m London 2012 opening ceremony - to be seen by 4bn people - were disrupted by clashes between the independent team the Trainspotting director brought in and OBS despite claims by organisers that both sides had been "working very well together."
"Danny cannot get the cameras in the positions he wants," an insider told the newspaper. "There has been no co-operation at all. You cannot describe the atmosphere. It is miserable. It has reduced rehearsal time over the past two or three weeks. The rehearsals are behind.
"Danny wanted to bring in an English crew because he didn't want a sports crew filming the opening ceremony," the source added. "He wanted to give it a 'light entertainment' feel, not a sports feel."
Organisers were also forced to cut a sequence from the show, which begins at 9pm, to ensure it finishes before 12.30am, to enable 80,000 spectators to get home.
NEW TRAILER FOR JAYNE MANSFIELD'S CAR
Here's the international trailer for the Billy Bob Thornton comedy drama Jayne Mansfield's Car.
Despite a top notch cast including Robert Duvall, John Hurt, Kevin Bacon and Francis O'Connor, it's yet to make it to British cinemas (which is a shame because we caught it in Berlin and loved it. See review here)
When the ex-wife of Alabama patriarch Jim Caldwell (Robert Duvall) dies in late 60s England her new family - including wizened widower John Hurt - honour her best wishes for a funeral in the Deep South.
However, they face a mixed reception from a the Caldwells, incuding Billy Bob Thornton's damaged ex-naval pilot, Kevin Bacon's war hero-turned-hippy and their vivacious, unhappily married sister.
PEPPER POT'S BACK IN THE KITCHEN
Gwyneth Paltrow - who we last saw as Iron Man's laydee Pepper Pots in Avengers Assemble - has been brought in to add spice to cooking drama Blood, Bones and Butter.
Written by cordon bleu cook Gabrielle Hamilton, the story follows her unconventional journey from home through the kitchens of France, Greece and Turkey.
A bit like a mash-up of The Rough Guide to Europe and Julie & Julia, the common link is her Italian mother-in-law who brings together her idyllic rural past and her difficult but ultimately rich marriage.
