Will we see you?
There is no doubt that Avatar is turning into one of the most ambitious film projects of all time. We now know that director James Cameron is expanding his Avatar project to three further films, all to be shot back to back. He is not a man to shirk a challenge, but perhaps he’s looking for support from an old friend.
Rumours have again surfaced that Arnold Schwarzenegger may be reteaming with his Terminator and True Lies director, and heading to the world of Pandora to play the bad guy- possibly another cigar chomping General not unlike the one played by Stephen Lang in the original.
Details about the sequel to the $2.8bn grossing sci-fi epic are scarce, though expect to dive deep into the aquatic side of the planet, and prepare for the return of Sigourney Weaver’s character Grace (somehow).
The source for the Schwarzenegger rumour is the usually reliable Latino Review, and as we first heard whispers about his involvement last year, we think they have substance. We can see why Arnie would want to be involved in such a huge, high profile project - The Last Stand didn’t exactly set the box office alight- however, we are fascinated to see what story Cameron has crafted that will sustain our interest over three more films.
Avatar 2 is expected December 2016.
