Tonight, we dine in sequels!
There's another trailer up for the sequel to 300, Zack Snyder's trashy, comic-inspired take on history, and if this new tease is anything to go by, fans of the original are likely to be very satisfied.
Ancient armies rendered in CGI and homoerotic shots of rippling washboard torsos in slow-mo fight scenes are par for the course in this new film, which sees commercials director Noam Murro at the helm. Snyder is co-writing and co-producing.
The finale of the first film (spoiler alert!) saw King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and his merry band of bodybuilding soldiers dying an honourable death at the hands of the creepy Persian god-king Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro).
This movie - which is again adapted from Frank Miller's loose graphic novel-based approach to Greek history - continues the story, with the one surviving member of the 300, Dilios (David Wenham) teaming up with fellow Spartans Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) and grief-stricken Queen Gorgo (Lena Headey).
New to the cast is Eva Green who as ass-kicking naval commander Artemisia provides a bit of a backstory for the mad King Xerxes as well as addressing the spectacularly lopsided testosterone-to-oestrogen ratio.
300: Rise of an Empire will be released in the UK on 7th March, 2014.
