At some point in our lives we all wanna be a superhero.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who rose to fame playing wannabe superhero Kick-Ass, will play an actual superhero - with, like, actual powers and stuff - in the forthcoming Avengers sequel.
Taylor-Johnson will play the implausibly-named Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver, in Avengers: Age of Ultron. He will be joined by twin sister Wanda, aka the Scarlet Witch, to be played by fellow rising star Elizabeth Olsen.
In the original Marvel comics, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch are children of Magneto - the main villain in the X-Men series. And confusingly, Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past will also feature the Quicksilver character, played instead by Evan Peters.
To avoid confusion (and potential cross-studio licensing headaches), Magneto will not appear in the Avengers sequel.
Quicksilver’s main power is superhuman speed, while the Scarlet Witch can control probability.
You wouldn’t need the Scarlet Witch’s powers to expect that this will be a huge, billion-dollar busting hit.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is scheduled to be released to cinemas on May 1st 2015.
